My laptop has been a bit flaky recently
which has brought this issue to the fore for me

i'm trying to work out a performance kink in some amd64 machines.
it's not clear to me if the machine i have is a bit wierd, or if this is
typical amd. if anyone has a amd64 that's not a phenom ii x4, and
can boot nix, i could you send me off-list the output of
/n/atom/ftp/6.test64
lucho has a good point. while i still think concentrating on amd64
for new things is the right thing to do for the future, that shouldn't
mean neglecting necessary maintence on the 386 kernels.
9atom now has sse support in the pae kernel. pae support goes back
to the pentium pro, so i hope this
