Re: [9fans] Acme: spaces in file names

i'm not sure, but i think this is where the problem starts. take it with a
grain of salt; i'm no acme expert and i spent less than 10 minutes looking
through the sources (the Plan 9 version).

/sys/src/cmd/acme/wind.c:359,361

Thanks for the suggestion. I really wish acme were just fixed. I find
acme a beautiful editor. A small number of issues render the editor too
much of a hassle to use for me. It is a shame because I really like it.
It is clean, simple, easy to learn, and powerful.

 Thanks.

Perhaps making the tagline a special case where acme will read from the
left to the bar | and use that for the file/directory name.

You would still have to chord it elsewhere but it might fix the most
annoying issue (inability to one click put etc)

 Thoughts?

B 'some directory name with spaces'

does load the directory correctly. But as soon as you put the cursor
into the directory acme changes the buffer header from some directory name
with spaces to some. Not supporting space in file/directory names has
been the single biggest impediment to my use of acme.

I noticed Wily doesn't have this problem. Of course it is missing win,
 Edit, Tab, etc

 Thanks.

with the plumber running, issuing B /anyfile will open the file in
acme, even if acme isn't running. this is very useful when you start
 scripting little tools.

i think this covers everything about acme :)

Re: [9fans] Plan9 Server Down

It is the Wiki Web server, link provided in my original mail:
http://plan9.bell-labs.com/wiki/plan9/ .
I wanted to browse the sources (http://plan9.bell-labs.com/sources/)
and found I can't reach the Wiki and cannot find the link.

Now it appears to be working.

Of course, it is possible that the server was unreachable because of a
network failure, as opposed to a dead server.

Yet:
1. I was able to reach the server from the same location in the past.
2. I was able to reach other Web sites while not being able to see
mentioned Wiki.
3. The said server was at least once down since I got interested in
Plan 9.
which makes me think that the problem was with the server, not the
network.

This was the long version.

Why reboot it?

 This was the long version.

Thanks. I was wondering if you were operating with some greater
knowledge of the setup at Bell Labs than is available to the
general public, or if your demand to reboot the server was
just a generic phrase.

I have no inside knowledge, but it's likely the server is more
than one machine, and we don't know what or where the problem is.

Anyway, thanks for pointing out the website was not working.
