Dear Friends,

As you may be aware that in the month of July 2009 the above mentioned
department of government of Karnataka called for the applications for the
4900 vacancies of primary school teachers. But through a special mention in
the application form the visually challenged persons had been bared to apply
for these jobs. Reacting to this states sponsored discrimination with the
blind in public employment, the NFB, Karnataka filed an PIL in Karnataka
high court in month of September 2009.In its interim judgement of 29-09-2009
the honourable high court directed the concerned department to keep at least
49 post vacant until the final disposal of said petition and that to accept
the applications of the eligible and interested visually challenged
candidates for these jobs. Since then the federation has been in process
to motivate the qualified blind candidates for applying for these job. In
this process some instances of the harassment by district public instruction
offices in providing and accepting the application forms have been brought
to the notice of the federation. As a solution of such compliance
federation has prepared its own application forms to make available to the
eligible candidates and advised them to send the filled up application forms
to their concerned district public instruction offices through the
registered post with A.D and submit a copy of the same to the federation for
producing in high court at the time of next hearing. In this context all
eligible and interested access Indian friends are also requested to proceed
in line with the advice of the federation at the earliest. You are also
requested to inform and motivate your other friends as widely as possible.

With regards,

Gautam Prakash Agarwal,

President,

National Federation of the Blind,
