Fully Agree with Amar, List of steps is the more reliable way to
navigate with a screen reader. The top-most step generally keeps on
refreshing and you take a turn / slide around 30 meters before.

You can monitor the distance and tell the driver to take the turn when it shows
a distance of about 30 meters. For area with small lains, it could get close to
10 meters. Maps usually announces 100 meters before the turn.

Thankyou Adhimoolam and Srinivasu for your reverts.
Well in Nagpur people do use Google maps to an extent obviously less
than metros like Bangalore. Still I believe the maps should be
updated.

It may also depend up on the area. Say for example, in Bangalore, it
works well since users regularly update map and even turning is mostly
announced correctly. When I get a new cab driver at Cisco, Google map
becomes very handy and I don't see too much of difference in terms of

I have to double check but as far as I remember, on Android, it says aloud
for specific turns in addition to 200 meters. I mean speak loud function
in-built with maps and not Talk back. I can check this evening (if I take a
car) or tomorrow and report back.

as for my observations, when the user reache's the turn, visually the

Hi Shankar,
Thanks for your revert.
I use it while in my car and hence select the driving mode . So what’s the
workaround?

Hi there,
yes, you are correct!the map does not instruct you with the specific turn..
it all depends upon your traveling speed.
and also, depends on the mode which you selected. example, walking,
driving, so on.
this is an usability issue.

Hi all,
Of late I have difficulty in using Google Maps. I mean while
travelling, google maps says turn left after 200m. But it fails to
indicate at the specific turn. I am using G Maps on an iPhone updated
to the latest version.
Please guide.
Thanking you
