As a bit of background, an element of our UK Government funded (DFID) Cross Cutting Disability Research Programme (CCDRP) focuses on building capacity of disability and development research and knowledge, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. As such we are undertaking an internship programme to support the mutual exchange of knowledge and shared learning between local academics and the disability community in the countries where the CCDRP operates (Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Nepal and India). We are therefore offering research internships starting from September 2012 of up to 12 weeks for: a) Disabled Persons Organisation staff or members to undertake a research assignment on disability and development within a local university; and b) Under- and post-graduates in international development, social sciences, community development or an equivalent subject to undertake a research assignment on disability and development within a local disabled persons organisation. We are writing to request that you circulate the attached advertisements widely amongst your networks. Please feel free to print off copies of the adverts, and pin them up in your DPO/university buildings, and also encourage relevant contacts to apply. Please note that we will only be offering internships in the following countries - Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Nepal and India. For those persons interested in undertaking an internship, please respond to Eleanor Challenger (e.challen...@ucl.ac.uk) for further details and for the expression of interest form by Friday 17th August. We would like all final expression of interest forms to be completed and returned by Monday 3rd September. If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
