National J&K to use Braille-enabled EVMs in LS polls Jammu (PTI): During the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Braille-enabled electronic voting machines (EVMs) would enable visually impaired voters to vote without assistance for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. "Braille-enabled EVMs would be used in the forthcoming LS polls to enable visually impaired voters to exercise their right of franchise for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir," state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), B R Sharma told PTI. "With this system visually impaired people would be able to vote without any assistance," he said. Giving further details, he said the Devnar School of Blind, Mumbai has been approached for preparing Braille-enabled list of contesting candidates which will be loaded on the EVMs to enable visually impaired persons to cast their votes without seeking any assistance.
