Hi all,
We need to engage with this panel and tell them this is a really bad idea.
We need inclusion.

hi Fayaz,
my best suggestion is not to go for a special university.
when this is said, it means the dissolving of any such ideas and strongly
condemning it.

This is a very scary and a dangerous step. Either setting up a special
University or exclusive centers within universities especially at higher
education will defeat the access to quality and choice based education
There are already existing models of inclusive education in higher
education.
In my view, having a special University for persons with disability is a
backward step. It would be interesting to know as to who are the members of
this pannel.

Adv Muralidhar Kachare,
Commander Bijur ( he is also on the national education policy committee for
Divyang).

Hi
Any idea who is on this panel? Can we find a way to ensure they don't land
up adopting some disastrous ideas.
Let me know if you are on it or know anyone else on it with whom we can
discuss this further
I have lots of inputs from the ground based on Spandan's work in higher
education
Thanks
exactly.
the sad thing is some people of our own community resist the idea of
inclusion.
I have even heard that a blind school teacher talking math and science
should not be taught to the blind children after 7th grade.
look at the state of affairs of our so-called NGOs.
ridiculous!

Continuing the line taken by Anirudh and Amiyo Biswas, my personal take or
rather query is that while we have all been talking about assimilation and
equity, would not creating separate special universities increase the gap
rather than reduce?
Creation of a special university will reduce choice
Panel formed, great. But any mandate, deadline for report given? Or it will
remain a promise on paper...

I agree with Aniruddh. We need real special schools for education at an early
age. But these special schools are neglected. The government speaks of
inclusive education at school level when there is hardly any arrangement at
normal schools. Special universities will segregate us and who can
Being a professor in a private college, I discourage any attempt of making
a separate university for the disabled.
We have many separate schools for the blind and we know the state of
affairs in most of the states.
I do not understand why the people in the government get those thoughts and
why our
