[AI] DENIAL OF SERVICE : Web Accessibility Report FORM bit.ly/want2report

2018-09-25 Thread jayakumar . vaishnavi

I've invited you to fill in the following form:
DENIAL OF SERVICE : Web Accessibility Report bit.ly/want2report

To fill it in, visit:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeUKwSDXo9cmOIQ5fyCd1HJBZiCfDYUsPQHnxxKBhdZeZv7CA/viewform?c=0w=1usp=mail_form_link

Henceforth we can use this form to flag any digital accessibility issues
using websites which will hopefully yield faster resolution and more
focussed advocacy. The forms contents are previewed below. The form
can be filled by clicking the link here or by remembering the short URL
bit.ly/want2report (Screenreader users, thats the numeral 2, no spaces
all lower case).

Could we start with IRCTC since there have been many complaints regarding
that? High priority in case CRIS can be gatecrashed in October 1st week.

In case there are any glitches, do email
disabilityrightsalliance...@gmail.com with subject WAR Effort

:-)

Yes Bhiwani
The Supreme court website is not very accessible but Bombay High Court is
worse. It is so sad because it was accessible when it started. The amazing
thing is that I can read the judgments on voice dream reader on my phone but
not on the computer with NVDA.
Amar and I met the Judge in charge and he complained that he was working at it
but needed time. I think we have given him a year and now need to revisit him.
The NIC guys just don’t understand luckily the Judge does.
PIL -I am not suggesting that you file a PIL immediately but follow a process
of
a. Complaining/sending Notices.
b. Social media
c. making a noise at all levels from PMO, Nitiayog, railway ministry and NIC.
d. Sending a notice to NIC that there people are incompetent to make and
maintain government websites
Someone has to lead this campaign.
I am currently working on Union Bank of India and need to take that forward
quickly so that no other Bank makes the same mistake.

 a. what is the law
b. What is wrong
c. The list of complaints/notices that you have given the provider with

We must not tolerate inaccessibility any more. All users are not advanced users
of assistive technologies and web. We must demand accessibility compliance in
all the services. It is our basic human right. We must start filing PIL against
such organizations. Otherwise things will not change much. Services in US and

being filed there. We should start agitating against these organizations to
change the senario. It is fassion of all the government organization to falsely

Accessibility compliance will only be on paper and government will give us

millions of rupies.

Please demand complete accessibility compliance not any capcha like things. I
will provide proof of non compliance if required for complain.

part in the matter. The website must be accessible across screen

secondly, the PRS counter is just 1km from my office, hence,

Re: [AI] IRCTC became inaccessible

2018-09-25 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Agree with everyone. Just bringing a couple of points to the table.
1. Websites must become accessible by June 2019 as per the RPWD act. In the
interim we need not suffer-lets start sending notices, escalating matters and
use social media.
2. There is a matter pending in the Supreme Court regarding accessibility-Rajiv
Raturi v. Union of India. Just recently Rahul Bajaj has intervened regarding
the accessibility of Courts. Anyone else interested may intervene regarding
railways and websites.

Absolutely! There is no reason why we should have to compromise on this front.
Access should not and must not be denied.! We are actually fighting against a
wide spread ignorance, a lack of understanding, an attitude and a lack of
competence. A lot of people in the mainstream do not know or never heard of
access. Many believe that partial access is ok. A lot of IT professionals have
not even heard of the W3CAG norms. IT schools have to make accessibility
mandatory part of their course. The orders have to come from the top, maybe
even right on top from the PM himself. Small side fixes and tweaks will not
sort matters out. Accessibility is not an individual issue, it is a community
issue, it needs to be viewed as a National challenge.

Why only IRCTC? Why not we file petition in supreme court to make all internal,
external websites and applications accessible including government, public
sector and private sector and demand for a nodal officer to complaint regarding
accessiblility?

Hi,
let us pressurize the officials to make IRCTC accessible across all the screen
readers and browsers.
Since there are 2000 to 3000 members on access India mailing group, it would be
better if we can post it on the social media like facebook and twitter and
pressurise the officials.
