Re: [AI] INCOME TAX STANDARD DEDUCTION FROM A.Y. 2019-20

2019-04-20 Thread Sameer

Dear Friend,

Section 16 of the Income-tax Act provides for a standard deduction of Rs.
40,000/- or the entire salary, whichever is less for A.Y. 2019-20.

The Income-tax return form provides an editable cell to allow for
individuals to enter either Rs. 40,000/- or their salary amount, if it is
less than Rs. 40,000/-

You should enter Rs. 40,000/- in the relevant cell in your Income-tax
return.

2019-04-20 Thread Amiyo Biswas
I don't know why the column is editable, perhaps because it applies to
salaried persons only.

Anyway, you should write 40,000. Standard deduction is fixed. However, tax
exemption on medical reimbursement and conveyance allowance is no longer
available. Only the exemption on transport allowance for the handicapped u/s
10(14) will continue in addition to standard deeduction.

2019-04-20 Thread Vikas Kapoor
If I'm not mistaken, standard deduction cannot be applied for health insurance,
rather it is against the medical reimbursement that you get from your employer.
Health insurance is under 80D.

2019-04-20 Thread bhawani shankar verma
agreed, but is it 4 fix or upto 4? because the colomn is editable
not read only.
this particular section says that standard deduction is rs.4 or amount
received through salary, whichever is less.
now in my case, i received rs.8000/- for medical aid. this amount is less
than 4/- and from a.y. 2019-20 the medical aid is taxxable.

Sometime back, I heard of a free app on play store which gives
ultrasonic sound, which dogs don't find pleasing so they leave the
place. You can also try that, although its efficiency in keeping dogs
at bay is not guaranteed. But there's no harm in trying the same as
you'll have only to gain and nothing to lose.

[AI] A Resource for Blind Indian Students Aspiring to Study Abroad - call for participants

Hi All,

I am hoping to help create a resource - a booklet if you will - of FAQs that
would be useful for Indian blind students who aspire to go abroad for pursuing
different levels of higher education. This would include stuff like:
information on the pros and cons of doing this from an accessibility and
quality of life standpoint; pointers for making the transition smoother;
obtaining reasonable accommodations for qualifying exams, if any; applying for
scholarships like the Rhodes; names of blind folks who have gone from India to
study at various universities, etc. this can be widely disseminated in the VI
community.

So far, Kartik has enthusiastically endorsed this project and shown interest. I
am hoping to hear from other blind people from India who are willing to
contribute to this initiative. Please reach out to me off-list if you fit this
description.
