[AI] Experiential traveling: requesting videos

2022-06-29 Thread Sandeep Singh
Dear friends

I have been working on the recent concept of responsible tourism that
includes inclusivity prominently. May I request those who have
travelled to tourist spots, with positive experiences and challenges,
and those who wish to undertake such tours, to share short videos
(30-45 sec) with me. Sorry for the short notice, but we need these
videos by this evening or latest tomorrow morning. Another request, we
would prefer videos shot horizontally.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Warm Regards
Sandeep Singh

[AI] Looking for an IPad for my sighted kids

2022-06-29 Thread S Solomon Karuppannan
Hello AccessIndians!
 Greetings!
I would like you IOS users to recommend a good, affordable Ipad.
I plan to replace my Android phone which, I hope will be a visually
safe though not appealing environment for my kids.
I stay reminded that visually appealing ones will not be affordable.
Hope you be economical!

Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC

2022-06-29 Thread kota prabhu
biometric thumb impressions taken through biometric devises are off
course much more secured than signature at least in my case I
believe.
they are used to open finakle at my bank only for that purpose
right?the lock screen in my phone and all kind of payment related apps
are opened with biometrics only. only banks are not upgrading their
technology. this is due to failure of RBI guidelines regarding this.
some people may be able to sign, but i believe I should not be
forced to sign just because even i cont look at my own signature
after signing to confirm its perfectness. by the way i am not
influencing anyone to cheat at bank with escort signature, that will
creat more difficulties in future, that was only my secondary account
used only for emergency purpose.

Signature is a necessity, a signature guide from Saksham/ any other
institution can help making it largely accurate.
Note: writing from my personal experience.
Additionally, I completely agree with Avinash's point, digital is the
way to go forward wherever possible.

Cheers,
Ajay

2022-06-29 Thread avinash shahi
Hi to all
It is essential to learn assistive technology to use net banking and
use payment modes on phone such as GPay and PhonePay. And there should
be financial literacy workshops should be conducted for VI people on
war-footing level. Sponsors, NGOs, blind bankers through their
organisations and the government need to work together to improve the
scenario. Emphasis in the workshops should be in regional languages to
reach wider participants. Schools and colleges where VI students study
can serve the purpose in big way. And yes, banking credentials should
not be compromised at any cost.

Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC

2022-06-29 Thread Harish Kotian

Hi Minar

I am glad you used the word reasonable before the word
accommodation. What you are demanding is surely unreasonable. One should
remember we are talking public money and the keeper of this has to
exercise adequate vigil over it. Signature is the key by which you
instruct the Bank for whatever action. If this is dropped is like
breaking down the door to your house.

We too should be mindful, before we can make a demand just because we
can make one.

equate educated totally blind person with sighted illiterate people.

I too agree with you Harish.

It's not necessary to use your full name as your signature.

You can use at least 3 letters and a simbol.

Please do practice signing to run right in the mainstream.

Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC

2022-06-29 Thread Minar Singh
Hi Paul,
I think you didn't get my point. In my opinion for educated totally
blind individuals bank should extent banking facilities even if they
cannot sign. RBI guidelines says that bank cannot equate totally
blind and partially blind individuals with illiterate people just
because they make thumb impression instead of signature. Why we should
allow to take control of our situation? I'm against involving
relatives or known person in financial matters. Reasonable
accomodation doesn't means using fake signature. For totally blind
person signature mismatch is a big hurdle. We have to understand
everyone's limitation and implement a solution without compromising
with the rules and regulations.

RE: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC

2022-06-29 Thread 'PAUL MUDDHA' via AccessIndia
Dear friends,
Reasonable accomodation in banking terms is not to compromise the basic rules
of the bank.
In that case anyone can easily mislead or misuse the signatures especially
relatives / friends and ultimately the responsibility falls on the bank itself.
Recently in Canara Bank one such incident took place for a blind person where
Rs.45000 was misused by one of his family members.
That is the reason why bankers are reluctant to provide all facilities to the
visually challenged.
Make the bank officials to understand our situation and proceed further.
Thanks
