Re: [AI] Screen-reader language detection between Hindi and English

2023-05-11 Thread Omkar Pawaskar
Hello sir. In mobile if you want to turn on the auto detection of language
between English and Hindi there will be an option in the Google text to
speech settings called auto detection of language. In that there are three
options like aggressive auto detection, normal auto detection, and no auto
detection.

And in windows also yes you can use auto detection of language in NVDA. To
use this feature you have to install and add on called NVDA dual language
in the get ad on option of NVDA. after installing and setting up this add
on you can easily use the auto language detection feature in windows also .
Thank you.

Re: [AI] Consider report for making coins friendly for the blind'

2023-05-11 Thread Shyam M. Sayanekar
Hello, earlier also I have written on this subject many times. Actually the
point is that neither the Judiciary, nor the law makers, nor the RBI is in a
position to comprehend the problem of the Vidually impaired. The things are
getting more complicated because the old and new coins and notes are
simultaniously in circulation. There are at least four different five rupee
coins and four different two rupee coins in circulation. Similarly, the ten
rupee, twenty rupee, fifty rupee and hundred rupee notes each of two different
sizes are in circulation. Priviously I used to challange the sighted people to
confuse me about the notes. But now I challange myself to identify the notes
without getting confused. All these coins and notes should be abolished and
only a single set of coins and notes should be newly introduced. But the
government would never do this. Professor Shyam M. Sayanekar

You can change the language to English India or English US. Press
window key and type language then press enter use tab key and find
the language dropdown press enter to expand and use down/up arrow key
to select the language English India or English US then press tab key
and find the dropdown for country or region and press enter to expand.
Select India. This should resolve your issue. If you are using NVDA
and want to use English/Hindi keyboard then you can accomplish this by
using Left alt +left shift key. There is no need to change the
keyboard layout in system settings. Hope this helps.

Re: [AI] Screen-reader language detection between Hindi and English

2023-05-11 Thread Yamuna Jivana dasa (Yogan)
Platform is both Jaws and NVDA, and device is Windows Desktop/Laptop
computers.

However I did not mention this for a reason:
I know that Jaws with it's default Eloquence cannot read Hindi. I think
that's also true for NVDA's default E-Speak TTS.
So I left this open-ended so that options and combinations can be offered
freely from various platforms.
Or are you referring to something else when you ssay "platform and the
device"?

Thanks.

Anyone

found

a way to replace all the sanskrit diacritics with standard text.

Once you read the actual texts, you will see what an English screen-reader
will read as garbage characters. This is because the text is the sanskrit.
Then there is the synonyms to English, then the English translation of
each
verse, then the purport. To read more naturally, when you reach the end of

of India must consider an expert committee’s suggestions and recommendations
for making currency notes and coins friendly for the visually challenged. “It
is high time the Reserve Bank of India considers it,’’ said Acting Chief
Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala and Justice Sandeep Marne on May 3. They heard a
2019 PIL by National Association for the Blind (NAB) to direct RBI to introduce

impaired persons can distinguish the currency. In fact, as the committee was
already appointed, we are waiting for that report, because the same would be
the suggestions and /or recommendations ofthe experts,” they said. The judges
directed that no sooner the report is received, it must be submitted to the

the shortcomings in the app and posted the hearing on June 23, “as a last

RE: [AI] Consider report for making coins friendly for the blind'

2023-05-11 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
I think I need to clarify.

1. I copied a Times of India article about a pending case in Mumbai by
the NAB regarding coins etc.

2. The Bombay High Court Judges were informed by RBI that they are
waiting for a Report.

3. This is the report on which amar and George have worked as a part of
the Delhi High Court matter.

4. So the Bombay High Court matter will rely on this report. I have
explained to Amar how it will really work.

5. We cannot do anything further at this stage unless this report is bad.
It is currently out of our hands and no point in now commenting.

6. What the newspaper article also said was that the Bombay Court has
asked for a report on the ap for recognising currency. So I presumed that it is
referring to Mani.

7. Only Harish has commented about this Ap. If we have to help this
matter and ourselves then we must do a proper evaluation and send it to the NAB
or If NAB India is on this list then they can pick it up and give good
information to their lawyer.

Mani app should be rejected as inherently failing in basic design and

On March 7, 2019, the Prime Minister had release a set of coins comprising
Rs20/-, Rs10/-, Rs5/-, Rs2/- and Rs1/-. All of them are distinctly different to
both see and touch. The problem is that the RBI or whoever else responsible
have not bothered to withdraw the old coins. Thus the scenario becomes more
chaotic.

‘Consider report for making coins friendly for the blind’
rosy.seque...@timesgroup.com Mumbai :
Bombay high court said the Reserve Bank of India must consider an expert
committee’s suggestions and recommendations for making currency notes and coins
friendly for the visually challenged. “It is high time the Reserve Bank of
India considers it,’’ said Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala and Justice
Sandeep Marne on May 3. They heard a 2019 PIL by National Association for the
Blind (NAB) to direct RBI to introduce “blind-friendly” currency notes/coins as
the new currency and coins are difficult to distinguish on touch. In September
2022, RBI said Delhi HC had constituted a committee. On May 3, RBI’s
advocateDhaval Patil said the report had not yet been tabled. “There cannot be
any dispute that the currency and mints have to be disabled user-friendly,’’
they said. They noted that after the PIL was filed, RBI came out with some
measures and introduced coins that are “visually impaired friendly” and a
mobile application. Advocate Uday Warunjikar, for NAB, said there are some
issues with operating the app with regard to volume and the app does not work
in crowded places and on trains and buses. “Respondent (RBI) certainly has to
take steps so that the visually impaired persons can distinguish the currency.
In fact, as the committee was already appointed, we are waiting for that
report, because the same would be the suggestions and /or recommendations ofthe
experts,” they said. The judges directed that no sooner the report is received,
it must be submitted to the court or else they proceed with the matter on the
basis of petition and replies as “the matter cannot be adjourned in
perpetuity”. They also sought a reply on the shortcomings in the app and posted
the hearing on June 23, “as a last chance for the responden
