  Amit,
Nice to see you email. I think, universal design should be thought as a whole
for everyone and not for a specific disability separately. That would even save
a good amount of investment as well. Marking this email to a good friend
Shivani, who is the founder of AccessAbility, a pioneer organization working
for universal design. She would be the best to advice you.

Shivani, I know Amit through Access India mailing list and please see the

Hi Amit,

If you are refering to accessible GPS applications, then there are 3 that
come to mind.
1. Nokia Maps which is mostly accessible using MobileSpeak and to a lesser
extent using Talks for Symbian.

2. Google Maps on phones running the Android operating system. There are
some accessibility challenges in Android so be warned before you go down
this route.

3. Navigone for the iPhone. I believe that Navigone has been recently
launched in India too.

Hi friends,

I think with the biometric system not yet in vogue, thumb impression
can't be verified by the banker.

I am not a legal expert, but I felt the master circular kept silent
with reference to operating accounts with LTI. It would have been
better if it explicitly stated that visually challenged people can
avail all banking facilities using LTI/signature at their choice.

Even if visually challenged people learn to sign, I very much doubt
whether all the signatures would be alike to enable bankers to honor
third party cheques.
