2010-08-18 Thread Shadab Husain
I wholeheartedly welcome this service. I heartily hope that this
initiatory step would compel other companies to tailor their schemes
according to visually impaired. Though Reliance service is at best a
ridiculous one, yet I am disposed to go for it because it would
promote accessibility for which we often raise a hue and cry. I am
sorry to say that the comments of our friends over this initiative
were quite ironical. We ought to welcome each and every
accessibility-promoting measure. Thanks, Shadab

To access this service the customer will have to register a request with
the company through its call centre or customer touch-points, including
over 2,500 Reliance World and Reliance Mobile Stores across 700 cities in
the country.

The service is in line with Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group's

yet need to sensitize a lot to the companies and help them to come up with
right innovations and not doing something just for the sake of doing it. For
instance, let's talk about proposed ATM solution by SBI - I think, the
intention is correct but not the concept.

While I certainly appreciate RCom initiative of bills in Braille and it's a
correct decision since not all the VI people uses email or internet but this
would certainly benefit them.

If this kind of initiative has been taken by any Company we should welcome
the decision rather then commenting on the issue. You all know lots of
things which should not be done but nobody cares about that then what is the
problem issuing bills in Braille for a little group?
Sometimes I really fail to understand what kind of objections are put up
here in the list.

Hi friends,

I am constrained to make comments on this issue as some of us are very
limited in their outlook. We conveniently forget that majority of us do not
use English let alone computers. Also, I would say that if even a small
minority of people prefer Braille they should get it as we are nobody to
decide for anyone. Further, let us encourage literacy by whichever way it
comes.

RCom launches braille bill service
Indo-Asian News Service
New Delhi, August 16, 2010
Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications on Monday said it has launched a
free-of-cost braille bill service to provide post paid bills to its
visually

challenged customers. The bill, which will be dispatched to the customers
every month without any extra charge, will provide details of current
usage,

bill amount, last dues, last payments and adjustments made.

To access this service the customer will have to register a request with
the

company through its call centre or customer touch-points, including over
2,500 Reliance World and Reliance Mobile Stores across 700 cities in the
country.

The service is in line with Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group's
corporate responsibility objectives, and part of its convenience options
campaign, the company said in a statement.

Our new Braille Bill service is in line with our customer service
objective

to delight our customers through innovations that touch their lives, said
Anurag Prashar, president, customer service.

There are currently 45 million people suffering from complete visual
impairment across the globe. Out of these, nearly 12 million reside in
India, he added.

Really, a welcome step. We must encourage Braille and the other mobile

Braille should learn Braille for their survival. We can get the Braille bill
wherever we go but not the computer. Braille bill is lighter than a laptop.
