I was surprised and read this post twice. Yes, that's one way to go about it but I wonder how many authorities are looking at their Twitter handle for such complaints. [AI] Eye test reveals higher edu chief ‘unfit’ for duty
Eye test reveals higher edu chief ‘unfit’ for duty The board of referees of the department of ophthalmology at JJ Hospital has declared the state’s director of higher education Dhanraj Mane “unfit” to perform his duties, terming his medical condition as “blind in the right eye” and having “very poor vision in the left”. This newspaper had reported about the allegations raised by several people regarding Mane’s health. On August 31, TOI had reported that Maharashtra’s higher and technical education department had ordered Mane to undergo a medical examination to check his vision. The decision was taken following a protest by an activist who claimed that Mane’s vision had deteriorated after an eye surgery. Amar Ekad, president of Care of PublicSafety, was on a hunger strike for six days and had alleged that Mane’s condition was affecting his work. However, Mane did not go for an eye check-up. Only after a second order from the state government on October 8did he undergo the test. The state had issued a notification to the dean of JJ Hospital and asked him to give Mane an appointment for the check -up. It made it clear that if he did not report for the test or refused to cooperate, the government should be informed. The medical report datedOctober 19, a copy of which is with TOI,said, “The board of referees has examined Mane. It declares him unfit to perform the duties of director, higher education, because he is blind in the right eye and has very poor vision in the left ( severe tunnel vision). ” “The action on the report is under process,” Vikas Chandra Rastogi, principal secretary of the higher and technical education department said on Tuesday. Mane claimed that the report was not shared with him and hence he could not comment on it. Ekad, who had raised the issue with the state, said, “Mane is blind in his right eye and can see only 10% with his left eye. The medical examination report has said that he is unfit to hold the office of director. I demand his dismissal from permanent service. -- Disclaimer: 1.
