Dear All, Blind Graduates Forum of India (BGFI) requests its well-wishers to support one of its signature events- “Readers and Writers Day” celebration.
BGFI is a not-for-profit organization working towards empowerment of people with blindness (people who cannot see). We conduct knowledge sharing sessions, run virtual peer mentorship program and work towards improving accessibility of all platforms (for more information visit our website and social media handles added towards the end). Readers’ Day is the highlight of our event calendar wherein we felicitate persons with blindness graduating in the latest academic year. We also recognise the support system behind their success viz. their readers and writers. This year, the event shall broadly comprise of the following— 1. A talk by a successful blind professional, to guide and encourage the graduates in their journey ahead; 2. Felicitation of the persons with blindness graduating in 2022; 3. Felicitation of their readers and writers (1 reader and writer per graduate). The successful conduct of the event would mandate incurring variegated expenses such as gifts for the Graduates along with their reader and writer, refreshments, venue expenses and the like. The total expenditure of the entire event is expected to be approximately 25000. Depending on your preference and budget, you can donate for a particular expense from the above mentioned items. We will be sharing bills with respective donors . We are a volunteer driven organisation operating on limited budget: charging meagre fees from our members for lifetime membership and we do not charge anything from anyone who would wish to attend our events. Thus, we would be highly grateful to receive financial support for this event. We undertake to give our donors a detailed breakup of the expenses backed by invoices and acknowledge them during the event.
