juno folder collapse, AGAIN.

2009-08-21 Thread Bruce Chesley
I don't recall which list is actually for juno victims, so have posted to
all.
I just had an extremely serious folder collapse that involved all my
cancer,
legal and other folders. Someone wrote a DOS program that helps. I
now have XP and need most serious help to restore ALL these folders.

juno disconnects.

2008-04-06 Thread Bruce Chesley
I have juno 5.0 platinum under Windows XE SE. I leave all my
web accesses to the end for each download. Whenever I click
on the first 1 to few links, I'm fine, then, for no reason juno
disconnects. Sometimes, it gives me prior warning that it will
disconmnect in @ 44 seconds and gives me the options to
Disconnect Now or Cancel. The auto disconns usually happen
when I'm doing a long download. Sometimes, the dowload site
becomes busy, and the complete download is interrupted.

I can usually reconnect and continue the download from the point
that the disconn happened. It seems to me that juno should be able
to recognize that a long download is happening, then NOT disconnect.

PC Virus WARNING.

2003-08-26 Thread Bruce Chesley
Over the past two weeks, I have received emails from
various ISPs around the world, that my email to some email
address on that ISP has been bounced back to me as it had
an attachment containing a computer virus. So far, I do not
recognize every intended recipient email address that is
returned in the bounce messages.
I do not send emails with attachments, as I know that they
are used for sending intended and unintended virii. I also do
not open any emails containing attachments. I have a top
anti virii software package installed on my PC as part of my
firewall. Prior to sending this email to you, I ran a virus check
on my PC and nothing was found.
I have posted this problem to an anti virii / spam list and have
been told that, essentially, there is nothing that I can do to track
down from where this problem has its source. Apparently, my
email address - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - is being mis used by one
or more unauthorized parties to spread one or more PC virii. I am
not the only person who is having their email address so used.
IF YOU RECEIVE ANY EMAIL FROM [EMAIL PROTECTED],
CONTAINING AN ATTACHMENT, IT DID NOT COME FROM ME.
DO NOT OPEN THIS EMAIL AND IMMEDIATELY DELETE IT. I
RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO THE SAME FOR ALL OTHER EMAILS
CONTAINING ATTACHMENTS.

Top 10 deceptive spam headers
11/07/2003
RE: Information you asked for is the most popular subject line used by
spammers to entice you to open their junk e-mail, according to a chart of
deceptive tactics.
E-mail security firm FrontBridge Technologies of Marina Del Rey,
California, this week revealed the results of its Spam Analyzer product,
which filters and analyses message characteristics for more than 1,200
enterprise e-mail domains.
From hundreds of millions of messages, FrontBridge concluded that the use
of deceptive tactics has increased more than 50% in the first six months
of this year.

Merely opening any such e-mail can, warns FrontBridge, create a Pandora’s
Box effect, inviting Trojan horses, viruses, browser launches and pop-up
advertisements.
Spammers also use a deceptive tactic called “From Line Address Masking.”
Using this tactic, spammers substitute a common name, such as Jenny,
Mary, or Bob, to replace the spammers’ true e-mail address. Recipients
are likely to know someone by a common first name, and thus can be
enticed to open the message.
Spammers will also bundle common subject lines with “Original
Message-” body text to make the spam message appear as though it
is a reply. This tactic fools even some of the industry’s most capable
spam filters.
“Spammers have gone well beyond the direct-sale ‘Lose weight fast’
subject line tactics,” said Charles McColgan, CTO at FrontBridge
Technologies.
