Can you please try some old kernels, like 2.6.26/2.6.24...? We have a similar
issue in Asus laptop several years ago, and the issue should already be fixed

I have intel driver 2.3.2, but the problems occur outside of xorg, too.
I think that in the absence of the _BQC object, if there is no way of reading
the current brightness

But then it must be moved after early-quirks are executed.
