Well, as it happens I no longer have this laptop.
But the latest patch definitely worked for me, so as far as I'm concerned the
bug is closed.

No change on v3.2. Booting with no acpi command line args, the brightness
hotkeys are recognized by linux, but do nothing. Manually poking brightness
sysfs files also does nothing

I haven't seen screen flicker since upgrade to kernel 3.3rc1, but touchpad
works not on every system boot.
