It works! Finally my laptop can sleep/suspend for the first time in 3 years!
Can I somehow force the laptop to unload the module when sleeping?

Fair enough. Thanks for all your help.
In the meantime, what can we do for a workaround? The thermal trip points are
not writeable, or else we might be able to set them manually.
