Seconds, the 2 seconds delay is probably spent in AML code, which sounds like a firmware issue to me. Anyway, I think Len has a 9300 laptop, maybe he can reproduce the issue and narrow down the problem a little bit. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug. ___ acpi-bugzilla mailing list acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/acpi-bugzilla

Wysocki CommitDate: Mon May 25 11:58:51 2020 +0200 ACPI: video: Use native backlight on Acer TravelMate 5735Z Currently, changing the brightness of the internal display of the Acer TravelMate 5735Z does not work. Pressing the function keys or changing the slider, GNOME Shell 3.36.2 displays the OSD (five steps), but the brightness does not change. The Acer TravelMate 5735Z shipped with Windows 7 and as such does not trigger our "win8 ready" heuristic for preferring the native backlight interface. Still ACPI backlight control doesn't work on this model, where as the native (intel_video) backlight interface does work by adding `acpi_backlight=native` or `acpi_backlight=none` to Linux’ command line. So, add a quirk to force using native backlight control on this model. [Bug 204605] Medion Erazer x7830 not power off on linux kernels 4.18.0 and newer
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204605 --- Comment #12 from Zhang Rui (rui.zh...@intel.com) --- does the problem still exists in latest upstream kernel? This problem looks tricky and I have no idea what could cause the problem. BTW, a simple way to confirm your bisect result is to 1. git checkout b7ccc7f8c643de0b71cd2da3245d0c27038a8dd7 and confirm if poweroff is broken 2. git checkout b7ccc7f8c643de0b71cd2da3245d0c27038a8dd7~ and confirm if poweroff is working -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug. ___ acpi-bugzilla mailing list acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/acpi-bugzilla
[Bug 204251] intel_backlight brightness ACPI BIOS Error (bug) on Dell Precision 5540 (CoffeeLake)
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204251 Zhang Rui (rui.zh...@intel.com) changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|CLOSED Resolution|--- |DOCUMENTED --- Comment #33 from Zhang Rui (rui.zh...@intel.com) --- So we have two problems here. One is the ACPI errors. Another one is a kernel regression which breaks backlight control. For the second one, please report a bug to the graphics experts. For the first one, I'd prefer to close it as it seems harmless (according to comment #30), and they're caused by buggy AML code IMO (according to comment #32). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug. ___ acpi-bugzilla mailing list acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/acpi-bugzilla
