you don't mention OS version - I'm assuming you will or have implemented
Win2k3. In this case the island-problem (which used to be an issue in
a Win2k AD's root domain) is no longer an issue and you're fine to go
ahead with your option 3.

We have Exchange 2003 setup and running with our W2K AD. We have
created Distribution groups and QBDG's. We can send mail to both
addresses, but can not find either group in the Global Address List or the All
Groups list.

view.After migration the global view has to be re-created. The drop downs

Be careful with deleting the DC using ADSI edit because it is still a
valid DC. Did you try moving the DC to the branch office Site?
Try this..
Expand main office site - Server
Right click on the Server and select Move.
