No,I'm gettingthem, but lately it seems
that messages are taking an inordinate amount of time to go
through.
We have R2 on some of our file servers...
unfortunately, this one doesn't have it.
I think that - for the time being - I will remove
the files and turn on auditing for the folders
Windows 2003 R2 has some great features in the FSM
tool. For your needs, the Storage Reports would be perfect.
If you don't have R2 on the server, you can use a
utility I have used in the past that works pretty well: TreeSize by JAM
Software. It's free and works really well.

Argh! On one of our file servers, there is a
"public" directory that allows any authenticated user to do anything within it
(minus changing permissions). MP3 files and folders appear there every so
often and are removed soon thereafter. Is there some way for me to tell
who has created these
I forgot tomention that we run an "rsync" on
this directory that overwrites the file owner's name with the user under which
this process runs...

I was hoping that there was some way to see who
created it rather than wait until it happened again, or wait until someone
accessed it...
I'll have to settle for the auditing
though.
Thanks!

I'd like to uninstall RealVNC from a number of
machines remotely. These were part of a system image that was rolled out
quite some time ago. Unfortunately, re-imaging the machines (they are
laptops)after simply removing the program from the image, is not an
option. Luckily, it's an AD
I was hoping to automate it, as it is on hundreds
of laptops - which may or may not be currently connected to the domain.

permission continues to be "auto-removed"
I have a 2-part discussion of this
I should add that I have fixed the problem by using

This particularaccount is a member of the
"Account Operators" group - which was the one causing the

We have some users that have mobile devices that
connect to Exchange. The3rd party applicationuses a dedicated
account to send mail from the devices. This account needs to have "Send

We have an extranet that we are finally trying to set up correctly. The
*only* problem we are having is serving up the Project Server content.
Let me briefly go over the setup and configuration. ISA EE is on our DMZ.
Our sharepoint and project servers (and SQL back-end) are on the LAN. ISA
For the few extranet users we have, they do have
login accounts in an AD domain on our network.
I appreciate all the info so far.

So back to my original question (we got off on a
little tangent): Will Sharepoint CAL's cover multiple portals from a
single sharepoint server?
From the responses, I'd infer that, yes, they will
since they are connecting to the same server (regardless of which portal is
used), but I just
Thank you SO much for posting the QB info. We were looking at replacing QB
Premium because of this single issue (requiring full local Admin rights just
to run it). I made the appropriate changes in a GPO and was able to remove
local admin rights from our Finance users w/o any problems. :)

I tried this question on the Sharepoint Newsgroup with no luck on
responses. I'd liketo know if MS Sharepoint CAL's will cover
multiple portals on sharepoint. We are thinking of using sharepoint for
our company intranet (we already use it for an extranet) andwant to make
sure we are covered
Right, but the extranet isn't publicly
available. It's only available to a select few clients. We'd rather
purchase individual CAL's for the few extranet users at ~$71 each rather than
$30K for an unlimited number. The licensing didn't stipulate that the
individual CAL's could not be used
