I've got a question. What are the advantages of using python as oppose to

Ok,
so since noone seems to be around I would like to start a discussion.
How much do you think Python is going to change from release to release?
I am a newbie but I couldn't help noticing that many additions
and removals are
implemented with each new version.

and only v2.1. I've been using it for 4 years and cannot think of a single

is dramatically different than the current 6.x? releas
Well, At least you know the python library is likely to be adopted, and
useful everywhere they use PYTHON. With C/C++, the language is a great
and worthwhile language, but was meant to only be the most SIMPLE(as far
as the built in capabilities(writing to a file, or even the terminal requires

This

Are people aware of the python newsgroup, comp.lang.python? It's a
_very_ useful resource, and questions such as "why python rather than
perl", and "what are future changes, to python and why", are covered
there in depth, all the time. I also use the google archive of the
group for my technical
I'm a newbie but it's such a pain setting Python up on Windows with the modules that
misbehave, such as gmpy, I am wondering if it is worth the 'fight'.

Like what sort of problems?
I always found the Windows installation
to be pretty easy -- both the regular Python.org Windows
distriution and the ActiveState Windows distribution.
Generally I prefer the ActiveState version because it
insclude the Win32 COM stuff.
