A message from John Luck - County Dragonfly Recorder: "I have some exciting news for all our dragonfly recorders and anyone else who may be interested. I am very pleased to announce that David Chelmick will be giving a presentation at the Booth Museum on Wednesday 14th March 2007 at 7.30pm. His talk will cover the life history of dragonflies and in particular the Sussex species and their habitats; the changing fauna of our county and the new challenges facing the field observer with the warming of our climate. The lecture will have hints and tips on identification so that we can all be better equipped to spot potential new species in our still under-recorded county.
Dave carried out a survey of dragonflies in Sussex in the 1970's and was national recorder until the early 1980s. He was a founding member of the BDS and since those early days has spent time studying dragonflies in Africa and North and South America; but his heart and enthusiasm are still in Sussex and its' changing fauna. So please come along on 14th March: expel the winter blues and pick up some of Dave's enthusiasm in readiness for the 2007 field season. I have attended several of his presentations and I can assure you that he is a most entertaining speaker. This is an event not to be missed." The talk is free of charge and you can just turn up on the day. Hope to see you there!
