Hi Charles,
yes you can. There is no SAP R4 - you are actually using SAP R/3 Version
4.5B.
You should check if your TDP for SAP R/3 Version supports SAP R/3 4.5B.
If yes everthing should work fine.

Hi *SM-ers!
I asked this question before, but I haven't received a reply yet. Maybe
somebody from development can shed some light on this?
One of my Sun TSM clients reports error 195 during backups. This seems to be
related to APAR IC26775: CLIENT BACKUPS FAIL WITH RETURN CODE 195. I have
TSM Administrators Guide 4.1 page 361:
For directories, the client can specify a management class by
using the DIRMC option in the client options file. If no
management class is specified for a directory, the server chooses
the management class with the longest retention period in the
backup copy
I had a problem with this and searched the adsm.org and found
a tip (don't recall from whom - but thanks) to use wildcard
delete rather than name etc.
I did this:
adsm delete backupset * * begind=03/01/2001 endd=-14
ANR2365I Backupset MACOS9.412.336789572 for node MACOS9.412 has been deleted.
Hi all,
is there any documentation what is the meaning of a database record, a
database entry, a Bit vector and so on ? I didn't find any hint in the TSM
Documentation.
When unloading and reloading a database you get the values for these kind of
things (and others)

Hi Nick!
The manual Using the Backup-Archive Clients (SH26-4105) states on page
108:
Place this option in the Include-Exclude options file or the client system
options file (dsm.sys).
So adding exclude and include options to the dsm.sys should work according
to the manual. I haven't tried it
Erik,
are you sure the new client was properly installed, I can recall one time where
a SUN client had to be updated but the current SUN client had to be removed
before the new client install could take place.

Yes, there is a 3494 log on the library manager. A CE can look at it.

Hi Walter!
That's possible. I was hoping that there is somebody out there who is using
this fixlevel. Maybe he/she can check whether the correct client level is
reported when you start the command line client.

Hi all,
another question regarding to Reload the TSM database:
In the Volhistory is an entry for each Volume of a Database Backup Operation and
there is a counter called Backup Series
After the Reload, I did a Database Backup and the counter (Backup Series) for
the Backup started again at 1 !
No
Eric,
You are not alone. I am having the same problem with one Solaris
Client. I also applied the same patch and observe the same output from
dsmc. Since I am upgrading to 4.1 server in the near future I haven't put
much effort into correcting it.

I have a 3494 that normally runs almost unattended. Yesterday I had to
attend to it because of a tape stuck in the drive, but also discovered 8

These were all valid, in use ADSM tapes and the library was showing their
status as manually removed.
Any ideas how they could
Those interested in optimizing the performance of their NT systems

Gerhard - I ran into the same problem. Tivoli has a method to delete
the old records manually. This will let the tapes be used again.
Call Tivoli support to get instructions. Here is part of what they sent
me (I won't publish the full instructions as they are potentially dangerous).

Have you tried using the resourceutilization parameter in the opt file? This
will allow a single backup to use multiple sessions during a backup. We are
using it to backup large (not 500gb large)groupwise post offices and it
works well.

Yes you can do it...
Yes I've done it...
Yes your steps are correct...
Make sure you make the corrections to dsmserv.opt file to reference the
correct directories and make sure that the rc.adsmserv references the
correct directories. You may after you get everything copied over do a grep

We had a problem with a newly installed 3494. One of the 6 drives showed up
DOA, and the replacement drive was configured incorrectly. Whenever TSM
called for a tape mount, the drive would fail reading the tape and the
library would eject the tape all by itself. There were messages in the
library

I put a similar posting on the list server last November (see below). I
think it's a bug.
I used the following to get around it:
1. Set the disaster recovery option for DB backup series expiration to be a
value less than the age of all the backups you wish to delete.

Hi...
I'm still learning about TSM...
I'm trying to have a script to run automatically after starting the TSM

Is this possible?

Hi Eric
Well, we only have our include/exclude entries in the dsm.sys files
on our AIX nodes, and that works just fine, so ...

Having include/excludes in the dsm.sys file works, it's just not the
preferred method. If you need to adjust your includes/excludes, and a
dsmc sched process is running, the process will not pick up the
changes to dsm.sys since it is read only upon startup. By placing the
