Yesterday i had similar trouble with restores to an other node.
I wanted to do some restorespeed-tests and thought that everyting could be
done by a script.
i tried the following at NODE NT3 (NT2 is a filer)
dsmc restore -subdir=yes -fromnode=NT1 \\NT1\D$\ \\NT2\E$\
everytime there where no

Thus env | grep dsm should also return something like
DSMI_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin/dsm.opt
If DSMI_CONFIG is not set the path show above is the default. And probably
you are altering the wrong file
