but it's 13k objects having to be inspected for the incremental. only 29 have actually been backed up. maybe some more RAM or CPU could lower that 1:45 hr figure. one would have to look at the client options to see if any setting can be changed. as said, the 47 secs are the time it took to backup

Forced a migration by lowering the hi threshold.. activity log fills up with nasty errors so I turned on contextmessaging to see if anything more cropped up.. Looks like the filesystem is having probs.. I/O related.. can't even umount the filesystem without it griping.. guess I found my problem..

I can't seem to get a handle on this events table. The SQL you supplied isn't working on my server (4.1.3.0 on AIX). When I do a select with no dates in the where clause, all I get is the admin scheds for the current day. Other than that, I can't get a thing. Is there something I'm missing??

Why do *.pst files take so long to back up? Even those that are not in use. Does anyone have a strategy to back them up in a most efficient manner? We have users that create multiple, large (gigs) *.pst files and it's a requirement that we back them up.

because TSM processes on a file system basis... since / is a single file system, it will start a single process. Do you only want / backed up ? what about /usr and /opt /var, etc they are not part of / Now if you said incr -subdir=yes then you would see a process for / kick off,

Does it start multiple sessions as expected during a backup? As someone else already pointed out, this is tied to the # of filesystems you have and you're only specifying /.. I believe you also need to make sure the node (q node f=d) has a MAXNUMP of 4 (default is 1) to get more then 1 data
