we are using trend micro server protect on our fileservers. During backup
(4.2.2.0 NT40-Client) the cpu-usage is nearly 100% and last on one Server 17h
instead of 2h without virus protection. OK, this is clear because tsm touches
every file, and the scanner scans it because its changed.
I've just put v5.1.5.1 into test and it looks like the SYSTEM OBJECT
problem (failure to expire the elements in the SYSTEM OBJECT filespace
for Win2K and WinXP) is back. Has anyone else seen this?
My test server: Solaris 2.8, TSM v5.1.5.1
Clients: WinXP, TSM v5.1.1.0 and Win2K, TSM v4.2.1.0

Please help.I am running TSM 4.1 server on Windows 2000 and have an LTO
3583 library with two drives. We first installed the library with one drive
and it worked perfectly.we now have upgraded and added a 2nd drive and
are experiencing problems..the second drive will load

We are just under 2TB with SAP. We are sitting on a shark. We are using 10
3590E1A drives attached to 2 San Data Gateways attached to 2 2109 S16
switches with 4 fibre adapters on the host. Our tsm server and database
server are the same server. We backup in around 7-8 hours for a full
backup.

A software bug in Windows XP or TSM? Seems like Windows XP is touching
those files therefore making TSM assume they have been modified in some
secret strange way. If that's the case, put them in the exclude list.

In addition to setting up a pool (or using an existing pool), the more
important thing is to set up an archive copy group with the desired
retention. The key here is that an archive is a distinctly different
function than backup. The stuff that is archived is managed per the archive
copy group.
Check the archives for SYSTEM OBJECTS -- that's what you're backing up; what
you can do about it depends on which client version you're running.
