There are alot of file spaces on that node.
Actually I am doing an image backup of raw logical volumes on AIX server.
each raw logical volume is backedup as a file space.
when the migration is triggered only one proccess works.

Hi,
Does any one can tell me what is causing this error. 4 out of 5 file spaces
of this netapp filer box are running well. The largest file space (1TB) is
giving us huge problems getting the back-up to complete successful.
Searching on the web the explanation of this error is:
Hi Abdulaziz!
Like mentioned earlier, the only way to have TSM start multiple migration
processes for a diskpool with data of only one node is to turn on
collocation on filespace level for this diskpool.

Jack,
Getting a manually invoked nohup-ed TSM scheduler to stick around in AIX
has caused a few problems in the past - a look in the archives will
probably reveal that. There's some funny thing that I seem to remember
about redirected stdout nohup-ed processes dying - I recall that this

Hello,
Under AIX I don't think I've ever had any trouble with;
#nohup dsmc sched 21 /dev/null
#exit

#exit
But I would be interested if anyone can tell me why
#nohup dsmc sched 21 /dev/null
#bg
#exit
doesn't work...why do you _have_ to say
#exit
#bg
#exit
?
Thanks,
Matt.
Hi,
In the past we too have seen problems with the scheduler daemon not
honouring a nohup under Solaris, HPUX, and AIX. We have found that using
at on unix-type systems causes the least problems.
So, our (ksh) startup files tend to look something like this, and can be
called during init, or
Hi TSM'ers
I need to delete the data for a specific node from a certain copy pool.
Originally the following process was occurring;
Turn co-location on for the pool
Move node data within the pool
Turn off co-location for the pool
Delete the written volumes discard=yes
Now, I thought I could do
If you have screen installed just start up a screen session and run:
dsmc sched
Then Ctrl-A , Ctrl-D
If you need to get back into the screen:
screen -R

That's what I've tried so far, but issuing the move nodedata gives this response;

And here are the definitions of the two copypools;

Sorry Joachim, I'm not sure I follow what you mean.
The problem as far as I see it is this;
(from help move nodedata) if the source storage pool is a copy storage
pool the destination must be the same copy storage pool
As my source storage pool is a copy pool,
There is no need to prase anything, just create more complex query
(without marrying the DBA, as per Wanda's advice :-)):
dsmadmc select v.volume_name, -
(select library_name from libvolumes -
where libvolumes.volume_name=v.volume_name) -
as in Library, -
im sorry to, i can see the problem.no way
greetings

Sorry Joachim,
So see the parameter migration process (migprocess) in the stgpool. If the
value is equal to one try update to 4.

The image backup is a single OBJECT to TSM. That's why you only see 1
migration task even if you have MIGPRO set to a higher value. I believe that
a migration task will handle ALL the objects for a node. You won't get
multiple migration tasks if there's only data for 1 node in the storage
pool.
Hey! I think that I know what's your problem!!! See the parameter maximum
number of mountpints (MAXNUMMP) in the client node attributes. Much
problably it is with the default value that is 2, change to 4 or 5.

I was just curious if anybody is running Novell servers and using an HSM
product to migrate files? We are currently in the situation where we are
very short on storage, and needed something to help us, because there is
no money in the budget to purchase additional storage.

Is anyone running the TSM 4.2.1.29 client on Novell 4.11 servers and using a
TSM V5.2 server?

Hello All!
I have had a bizarre occurrence of a client's password not working. When I
reset the password, the user was then able to use the backup/restore
client. What I am wondering is if I don't specify a password expiration

ITSMers,
I know I have seen various discussions on the list concerning support of
various ATLs and tape formats and have read many of them. I now find
myself in that awkward position of having to tell management that we are
fast approaching the practical usage limit of our ATLs and they are

I was experiencing the same thing, client's password suddenly don't work. As

In looking into this I found that a q stat showed Password Expiration

We are getting ready to install a new TSM server running on AIX 5. I
wanted to install TSM V5.2.2. Is anyone running this version, and if so do
you have any comments, issues or tips?
I've found the following to work pretty well:
(dsmc sched 21 /dev/null )
The parenthesis drop it into a sub-shell and cleanly detaches from your
current session.

Based on what you've posted my best estimate of what's happening is that
the users in question are launch the TSM Web Client (not the Web Admin)

the plug-in.
