Hi
Is there anyone using LTO2 drives with LTO1 tapes?
How does the transferrate changes?
What i know is:
LTO2 drives with LTO2 tapes provides 30MB/s maximum and 15MB/s minimum.
LTO1 drives with LTO1 tapes provides 15MB/s maximum and 8MB/s minimum.
but how does
LTO2 drives with LTO1 tapes work??

Miles,
I think you need to give a little more info as the two scripts sound like
local scripts to yourselves. You will need to give the content of your
scripts to be useful...
eg:
query script q_proc_stats f=d
query script q_ses_stats f=d
... and look at what follows Command:
Many thanks
Hi again
Thanks for your help. I tried the two scripts, after little manupilation.
They simply do the same than we did: Calculating the transferrate out of
the time and the amount of the transmitted bytes.
The srcipts can be found at the server-directory in the file scripts.smp
My output:
I have 20 old cartridges and all are having data.
Now can i delete or erase the data from all these tapes
and reuse it again for new backups.
You didn't specify what those tapes are...whether foreign or
in a stgpool. If in a stgpool, they will be implicitly reused
when their contents expire or
Hi
If you are sure the data on those volumes has no value anymore, you can
delete them with :
Delete volume discard=yes
This will remove any reference from the files originally written on
those volumes from TSM DB. Note that existing copies from the files in
the copy storage pools will also

Hi Ralph!
Checkout the extend db command. In your case you should issue:
extend db 2964

Ralph,
There are options to create new database files as needed, but what you need
to do right now is extend your database into the unused area that is already
created.
The command is
extend db size_in_MB
In your case, I would extend it to the 2964 and look into creating some more
database
Hi
I do this on a UNIX/AIX server where the DRP server UNIX/AIX is at a higher TSM server
code than
the Production server UNIX/AIX.
All I do is restore the TSM database of the production server to the DRP server and
then
I run an upgrade DB on the DRP server.
The OS server levels are also at
One simple reason for creating a copypool is that media goes bad.

The way we use it is to send the COPYPOOL off site, along with a copy
of the database, every business day. We use it for restoring in a
disaster
recovery situation.

I have added exclude statements in my dsm.opt file to exclude the dat files

Hi Jim!
Probably because you haven't stopped and started the scheduler service after
adding the exclude statement?

I know this is only a minor thing but I sure am miffed as to where these

there are no sample scripts in the server directory... I have even trawled

Is there any real advantage/reason to installing the 64-bit version of the

Opinions ? Thoughts ?
Hello,
We did quite some changes to our TSM setup, but I'm left with a database
backup tape that I can't succeed in recovering. As we are now taking
backups of the database to disk, we don't need this tape anymore.
I can't find a way to delete the last tape. Is there a good soul that
can help me?

Betreff: Last database backup tape
Hello,
We did quite some changes to our TSM setup,
Doesn't work as TSM doesn' want to remove the last database backup from
the volume history:
tsm: SERVER1del volh tod=today type=dbb
Do you wish to proceed? (Yes (Y)/No (N)) y
ANR2467I DELETE VOLHISTORY: 0 sequential volume history entries were
successfully deleted.

This seems to be your last DB backup as far as TSM is concerned so it
won't allow you to delete it. How are you taking your DB backups to disk?
It doesn't seems to be recognized as a DB backup by TSM...

Hi All,
Is it possible to archive Domino database and mail forever using the TDP
module?
Thanks in advance.
/hector
You can certainly do it - in the copy pool for the management class domino data
is going to set the following:
verexist = nolimit
verdeleted = nolimit
retextra = nolimit
retonly = nolimit
However, don't forget these other two resultant settings:
size of library = not big enough
$$$ for new
Personally, if you are really going to keep something forever...
to reduce the buildup in your TSM data base tracking all that stuff...
I'd back them up, export the node to tapes (to keep forever)
then let the data expire naturally...
you can always import the node later with relative dates
I have spent hours and hours trying to get TSM server 5.2.2.0 on AIX 5.1
to define the PATH to the above tape library.
Every time I click on defining the PATH (/dev/smc0) to this library, TSM
goes off and spins for a while, eventually coming back with some kind of
error about being unable to
Your environment is very similar to what I recently configured, but I
didn't experience any problem you are having now.
I am just listing the steps I used and perhaps you might have made a typo
or something.
AIX 5.2, 3583-L72 library with 3 tape drives, SAN attached, TSM 5.2.2
Also 3583 can
Based on my experience, it would appear you can only check the firmware of
the library with what is loaded with.
Reading the manual, multipath and single path library hardware wise
appears to be different. I am not sure hardware wise what to look for.
Other suggestion
2) Library path
It's the last DBB on this devclass.
TSM won't delete those as well.
