our filer backups, as opposed to the backup the NFS/CIFS mount way we

Currently, the TSM device driver does not support Storport drivers. So if
your tape drives or library are controlled by the TSM device driver, you
will need to use the SCSI port drivers.

My advice would be to not collocate your copy storage pools. This way, you

And if you have 15 clients and are collocating your primary tape pool, you
still don't need to use 15 tapes.
If you set maxscratch to 8, TSm will stack your clients 2 per tape. You get
most of the benefits of collocation, but can support more clients than you
have slots in the library.
Recently, the AIX 5.1 host for our busiest TSM 5.2.3.0 service,
has been running at 100% CPU for most of the night, some mornings
and even into some afternoons. We have discovered a few of our
clients (using inappropriate network settings, typically Auto-Dectect
instead of matching the network
Actually there is 3 types of drivers, SCSCI Port Miniport, Storport, and FC Port . We
have always used the FC Port drivers. I blieve the difference is that with FC Port
you can set up persistant binding. At least that is what the description by the
LP1 drivers show (see below):
