The distribution is Suse Linux 5.1 and the kernel being used is

Hi
We use Tivoli Storage Manager Client for z/OS OMVS (USS / UNIX) Version 5,
Release 1, Level 6.0.
How can we avoid that when a file is corrupt that the Tivoli client just
ignores this file and proceeds instead of stopping / crashing?
Thanks for any help,

Hi all,
Have anyone installed TSM 5.3 server yet (on AIX preferably)?
Test or production scenario?
Are there any problems? I searched through APARs, but found nothing to
disturb for. I hope the reason for this is not, because there is no one
installed TSM 5.3 yet :)
TIA
Best Regards,
Luc,
There is support for the Broadcom and Intel gig network cards on the
plugin screen of PE Builder. It will require you to download the drivers
from the vendor and add them though.
If needed, I can zip up our two folders that you can stick in the plugin
directory. FYI, we're still using
Hello

Use the domain statement with the negative flag:

I now about domain option, but I think, this option used in dsm.opt on client.
I use 1 cloptset on server for many clients, and I would not like to write in
dsm.opt on each client.

Thank you for your answer.
In my opinion if 99.9 percent of the files are backupable then TSM should
backup them. If it tries to backup a file and the system returns any error
condition it should simply pass an information about this and should try the
next file. I don't want TSM to evaluate

Hi Miles, Paul Zarnowski and others who responded to my question!
Just to let you know the status of my performance problem: we converted the
database RAW LV's to JFS and we enabled AIO and direct I/O. This caused CPU

Hi TSMr's
We are finally getting a P570 IBM series and upgrading our current TSM
server solution (1 server).
Point A: We currently have a Winterhawk SP frame connected TSM server with
AIX 4.3.3 and TSM 5.1.1.0
Point B: We will be going to the new P570 IBM series with AIX 5.3 and I am

Joni,
We are also wrestling with the pros/cons of using NDMP. As you
mentioned, the biggest con in my opinion is the inability to make
copies for offsite storage. It really puts a big hole in a DR plan.
We are trying to get around this by putting a large NetApp R200,

We currently have a TSM server (5.1.7.2) with
around 20 clients using LAN-free (storage agents)
and a greater number of clients backing
up across the LAN. All the clients are Unix.
We have two 3584 tape libraries with fibre attached
LTO2 drives.
We are planning to install a second TSM
server
You can specify DOMAIN in your client option set:
define clientopt myoptset domain -systemobject

My server has space triggers for DB and Recovery log.
As I now see the files there are 8 DB Files and 3 Recovery log files spanned on

Kindly enlighten me on these !

How do i get all these files merged into 1?

Has anyone found any written documentation on the ISC. The little bit I

Hi all,
One of my TSM admins is having problems backing up Novell servers
that have compressed files. Only the compressed files fail and the
dsmerror log shows a ANE4007E error, which is generic for access to the
object is denied. If he uncompresses a file and tries to back it up, it

I was asked if it was possible to move TSM from machine to machine by
mirroring the DB and log, breaking the mirror, moving the mirrored portions
to a new machine, adding the old mirror volumes to dsmserv.dsk, and
bringing up the new machine as if nothing happened?

I question why so many tape drives, tape drives are expensive. Perhaps
those backups should be going to disk storage pools on $ 500 disk drives
instead of buying more $15,000 tape drives. We make good money selling
those tape drives, but adding tape drives is the more expensive way to
accomplish
Big thanks, I was inattentive :) and has not paid attention in web-gui on
