I'm thinking from the lackl of response to my previous question, that few people actually use TSM Operation reporting. Do people find it not useful or has something replaced it (mine says Driver 7) I used the net & web detect feature and it discovered a number of pc/servers that are TSM clients.

I thought that initially aswell, but the rc-50s are prior to the actual backup. it was rescheduled to run at 10:30, after a false 2 hour start from 8:30 am. Those ANS1289W's appear after the client and server are happily talking, according to the sched.log. ---

One of the things I've wondered about VTL's and file devices is how they handle seeks. What happens when TSM needs to access a file that's at the end of a vtl "tape" or file volume? For a file device, does TSM open the file and read the entire volume till it gets to the file or is tsm smart enough
