Not, this is not nessesary. The API client is only used during a backup,
so if no backup is running, you can replace all files during
installation and no restart is required.
However, I would wait a few days before starting the upgrade. The
5.3.3.0 client will be released this month.

service apparently can't handle more than that.
I work around it by creating batch files that execute the reports/monitors
from the command line, and run them from the windows scheduler. Works
like a champ.

It's time for us to split our TSM into several new instances because our
database is now just too large -- 509GB -- and still growing. My initial
plan is to create five TSMs - four plus a library manager - on the existing
server (an 8-way, 12GB HP rp7410 with 15 PCI slots).
