Hello, Since most IT departments like the word centralize I wonder how other achieve a centralized TSM enviroment. We have smaller sites with 10-40 servers connected to main office with 20-155Mbit. One way to setup backup and recovery is to attach all servers to a networked storage system.

all, I am using aix 5.3 and tsm5.3.3 with a 3583 3xlto2 quite happily. I want to add a msl 6060 but cannot get tsm/aix to see it. I have tried smit-dev-tsm-dev, cfgmgr but nothing will become available. how do I get to the point where I can DEF LIBR?

I have a similar configuration and I see in the process table that when a DB backup completes, it sometimes sits there for a few minutes before the process disappears, but I can't say I have ever seen 1.5 hours. Is the TSM server extremely busy with expiring inventory or something else?

What kind of scheduling do you use? If you use prompted scheduling then it's the TSM server that will contact the client for backup not the other way around. As far as which ip the client will connect to if you leave the dns entry, it will connect to the ip address that the dns entry resolves too.
