All,
TSM driver issues, TSM 5.1 on Windows 2000 Server attached to Magstar
library, is there a quick fix or have the drivers to be updated or
reinstalled? Would reseating the SCSI controller or reattaching the SCSI
cables be worth a try? Errors are below.

I have just tried it with the GUI with a 5.3.4.0 client where the data
was backed up with the 5.3.4.0 client and I have the same issue as you.
The GUI doesn't seem to show inactive directories, and their
sub-directories which *should* be available for the option 'delete

It has been decided that we will move our ZOS mainframe TSM Server to an IBM pSeries 520Q AIX TSM server (instead of the Windows as was first decided) with a new Tape Library (IBM 3584 w/3592-E05 Jaguar drives). I'm hoping the learning curve won't be too bad ...our TSM server has been on the
Shannon,
There is a function in AIX to do an OS level backup, or you can look at the
Sysback (TSM for System Backup and Recovery) tool, which is a bit more
sophisticated. I know of people using both, with great success, for DR
situations.

Hi,
We have:
TSM Client 5.3.2 running on Windows 2003
TSM Server 5.2.4 running on AIX v5.3.01

I know something similar has appeared here earlier and that Pete Tanenhaus
provided a response. But
Our DSM.OPT file contains

Thanks for the responses...this is the greatest list on the net!
If you can fund a backup system, you can configure DRM to automate
things. You could even use the DR location for offsite copypool storage
using server-to-server communications and virtual volumes.

We have our primary pool on SATA (IBM DS4100) arrays which are behind an
IBM SVC and we have not seen any performance issues. There was initial
concern with performance and reliability of the SATA drives, but with
the SVC in the middle, neither have been an issue.

The cifs share is mapped/mounted to your userid's session, not to all sessions
on the box.
I am not up onto all the in and outs of all the possible ways to do this. But
you have to map the network share in such a way, that the session which is the
tsm scheduler service sees the share.
I have
I'm planning to do so but will be be unable to until after the conversion :~(
The TSM Server move is the end of a series of projects which includes a new CPU (IBM 2096-R07) and 2 new DASD units (IBM DS6800). The TSM change was kind of thrown in at the last minute...once it was (finally)
Hi,
Normally network names are \\servername\share name. Change your domain
statement to \\filer\share and leave the \* should help.
Also change your include from *.* to * to include all files and not only
the xxx.xxx files.

Jeff,
Why not look into backing up the NetApp via NDMP?

Hi,
We have:
TSM Client 5.3.2 running on Windows 2003
TSM Server 5.2.4 running on AIX
We keep toying with the idea of NDMP, but there are some big cons in my
opinion to using the NDMP protocol.
1. No way to make copypool copies of data backed up through NDMP. Does
not meet our DR requirements.
2. All data in an NDMP session is bound to the same retention. No way to
slice dice the
I think you just have a syntax problem.
When Ive done this before, to back up a drive on another host (for
example local drive E on the other host), the syntax I've used is:
doman all-local \\hostname\e$
It's the same you UNC name you need if, on a Windows box, you do: Start
- run and type in
The document located at the following link should provide some useful
information on
backing up CIFS shares with TSM on Windows.
Hope it helps .

Hello all,
Can a backup set be restore to a client from the web Gui?
I was under the impression before that it could not
but it looks like it can work just like a normal restore
now. I Is this something new with 5.3.3? Or did I miss
something? I know this was discussed before.

Interesting... the TSM server's SQL parser is apparently not accepting
enumerated types as valid table correlation (alias) names. APAR IC49749
has been opened to address this.
Use select values from enumtypes to identify those strings that you
should not use as table alias names.

Andy
We have TSM server 5.2 and have installed TDP for SQL on a client.
We can run manual full and differential SQL backups OK using the GUI,
however we cannot get scheduled backups working.
We have registered the license using the command:
Reg lic file(mssql.lic) Number=4
The output of the q lic
