Rainer,
Just found this technote :
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21079391 which refers to
ANS1311E and ANR0522W problems, and states this possible reason :
- Cache is enabled on the disk storage pool that the TSM Client backup
data is being sent to, and cached data cannot be
Arnaud,
no thats not hurting cause
we have no cache enabled on the disk storage pools ... checked the other things
of the tech-note and still nothing applies to this problem.
Especially there are available scratch tapes and the number of the available
tapes
in the tapepool is high enough.

I believe this can happen at 5.3 clients
Are any of your pools (in the chain of pools the client writes to) of
type FILE ?
Try increasing the number of mount points for the device class for that
pool.

Hi, Rainer -
Thanks for all the detailed info on the problem.
The proximity of the File stgpool ANR8341I message to the ANR0522W
no space available suggests issues with the configuration or
service rate for the File stgpool. The Elapsed Migration Time for
that File pool gives me concern about

I have a customer who was in the same situation. I didn't believe it
when IBM support described it as a race condition resulting in the FILE
storage
pool being unable to destage data to the Tape pool (as mentioned by
Richard Sims)
I would personally expect a full File storage pool to queue for
There is a similar problem which is a combination of CACHE on a disk
storage
pool, COMPRESSION, and uncompressible files.
If tsm client wants to back up a 500MB file, it will estimate a
compression rate,
say 50% for the sake of argument, and requisition 250MB from the first
storage pool.

Most of the standard stuff applies first. Make sure the netware server
is at the latest service pack, the latest version of the tsa's, the
newest tsm version, etc. tsaup19 is the newest tsa's, the newest tsm is
5.3.4, and the latest netware sp depends on which variant of Netware 5

Hi All,

We have a volume that cannot be deleted, same symptoms you describe.
IBM recommended an audit of part of the DB. We have not done the audit
yet due to time constraints. If all else fails you may have to call
IBM.

I don't have much background or experience with the MS-Windows
filesystem and directory config, so I felt I'd better ask the more
experienced people here how to approach this . . .
I have a Windows fileserver that I have co-located by filesystem (drive
letter) both on-site and in the off-site
Greetings list!
I have a dba who is recommending I do a regularly scheduled database
reorg (ie weekly). Anyone doing this? Can you share the good, the
bad, and the ugly about doing this?

He's a dba, he can't help himself! He see's a database, he reorg's the
database. I know from reading this list that a db reorg isn't often
recommended. Problem is there is another dba up there, who has some TSM
experience, who says she used to do it painlessly. Anyone want to weigh
in?

I forgot to say that we are running 5.3.3 on Windows.

Hello All,
How to label 3592 tapes in 3583 library (we are using ALMS for logical
partition) in TSM 5.3. When we try label with the following command
label libv magstar6 volr=i2,i20009 search=yes devt=3592 overwrite=yes
labels=barcode
We get no LTO drives present in the library.
