The other posted topic 'Sessions in Actlog' nudged me into remembering a

Is there any way, for a backup launched via 'dsmc i' on the unix command

I have been getting a schedule failed. The host is a Solaris server.

dsmc select, whether run by a schedule or manually, does NOT update
the last backup date/time. You have to run dsmc incremental on a
filespace in order to have the last backup date/time updated.

Does anyone know where I can get a list of what the TDP for Domino return
codes, are/mean ? The dsmerror/dsmsched/domdsm log files are useless.
I have seen the following rc:

open/inuse/something...)
55

Look up the CHANGINGRETRIES option in the client manual. Or run dsmc
help to get menu-driven help, and look up the info for CHANGINGRETRIES.

Hi,
We have some cleanup to run on the database to reduce occupancy in the

I want to delete certain TDP Exchange objects but before doing so, I

You can see the file size of an object by querying the contents table,
although for files in aggregates only the size of the aggregate is
given.
For TDP exchange files, I imagine they would be to large to be
aggregated.

I'm being told by various vendors that the TSM backup client on
Windows causes problems with their ILM products, the ones that move
older, unaccessed data to cheaper storage.
They are saying that the TSM backup client will alter the last

Also.. be careful about deleting Data Protection for Exchange

Unless you know exactly what these are, I would not advise it.

So the TSM backup client ~does~ change the last access
time??!?!? That's not what I have been telling folks
Wait, the docs say that the TSM client will do an update on a file if
the last access time is changed between backups. If the TSM client
itself is changing the last access
Access time is not modification time. Access time means the last time
someone touched a file. For example, if you use Windows Explorer to view a
file's properties, the access time will automatically be updated. This is
not something the application does explicitly, but is a function of the
file
I was hoping I could set 'PRESERVELASTACCESSDATE YES' at the server
level like in a client option set, but I don't think I can.
Do you know of an easy way to update 2500 clients without logging on to
each one and updating the dsm.opt or inclexcl.def?

Search for kill in the client manual, which will find sections
describing scheduler start/stop operations.

My Netware admin reports that if you use the 5.3.4 TSM client for
NetWare to back up a SAN attached volume, it backs up as a NTWFS
filespace type. It should be backing it up as a NTW:LONG filespace
type. The 5.2.3 client backs up these volumes correctly.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Richard,
An initial test shows that the commands return data only for active

Try upd vol xxx loc='' (two single quotes).

Hello David,
I've got 5.3.4 clients backing up SAN attached cluster volumes in a NetWare 6.5
SP5 cluster. My filespace type for those clients is NTW:LONG. What I have
noticed is that the 5.3.4 client seems to chop off the cluster name thus
leading to a new filespace. Here's an example:
FSID
checki libv libname volxxx devt=xxx stat=priv (owner=xxx)
gets it back into the library. Then as Richard says, you can move or whatever.

I assume you are using the move media command to check these volumes out

If so, then you want to use the move media command first to move the

check them in with the checkin
