Hello Everyone,
I think I've been trying to reinvent the wheel for a couple of days.
Is there a preferred way (or any way) to get win2003 BAC to back up (in
my case):

Yes, this is a major shortcoming of TSM, especially in today's litigious
business climate: the fact that data retention in TSM is tied to
Management Class/Copy Group, and is the same throughout the storage
hierarchy and across storage pool backups. The only way around it is to

Hi folks,
I just installed the TSM client on a brand-new Intel-based Xserve, and I
can't start an incremental. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a
workaround?

The latest Mac client Readme file says:
At this time there is no support for Macintosh Intel or Rosetta.
This is conscious neglect on IBM's part...particularly given that
Intel Macs have been out for about a year, and a developer's program
was available long before.

Those of you who have the IBM 3584 tape libraries - please weigh in on
pros/cons of using either the Automatic Cleaning method of the host
library or the Tape cleaning management method of the TSM server. We are
configuring two 3584's to replace our four 3583 libraries. Our
environment is TSM
Use the 3584's automatic cleaning is best practice.
I have used for 5 years and had no problem at all on my 3584.
After 5 years, the first cleaning tape is about half used.

Larry,
If you use the ALMS feature of the 3584 library, then you are locked in to the
library doing the cleaning.
An ALMS is a pretty nice feature to be using.
PS Can I ask why you have two single partition libraries instead of one with 2
partitions. Unless they are in different locations.
Recommended to use the Automatic Cleaning method.
It's in the Planning and Operator guides of both the 3583 and 3584.
Cheers, Suad
