I too couldn't find any documentation, hence my convoluted method of
trying achieve the goal. Now that I know the command, I found some
reference in a posting from 2001 and also reference in TSM 5.1 and 4.2
documentation.
It's a shame that IBM won't (re)-document it, but thanks to this thread,

Bright minds,
I have a problem where a file system is declared to be backed up
successfully but no file from that FS is actually backed up.
I'm ABSOLUTELY positive that between the previous backup and the
current (below) one there is at least a dozen files changed.
In the log snippet below a FS

For a file system, it should not mather if you and it with a / or not. For a
directory, you HAVE to end it with a /.
This what I found out

Hello All,
I have two questions.
1) I need to replace tape 14 in library medslib since it is bad. I
have a blank tape of the same size, without a label.
Can I take the label from the bad tape and put it on the good tape? If
this is possible, what would I need to do to checkin this

Worse of all is that that FS is backed up on one day but not on the other.
for example version history of my own inbox (January 2007) looks like this:
tsm q b/Mail/michaelg -inact
Hi Kerry,
First you need 'move data' off the bad tape. Or 'restore volume' 14.
Then checkout the bad tape.
When TSM have no reference to the old 14 you can reuse the label.
TSM need the labels to be written to the tape, use 'label libv'.
Only the checkin or checkout a tape use 'checkin
IF you can successfully move the physical label, not guaranteed you
can, then us the LABEL LIBVOL command. This is command you use to
check new tapes in for first time also.

Hi, Michael -
I don't know the particulars of your shop, but it is likely that the
file system is being backed up every day, but... You cite mail spool
files, of mbox
Can anyone explain to me what the differences in the following status

I am using 5.3 TSM Operational Reports and sometimes see these status'

Hello all,
I noticed in TSM Operational Reporter under Customary Summary that we have
7 read-only volumes. Does anyone have a script that I can use that
will display read-only volumes In both primary and copy pools?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi Richard,
I've been investigating a little bit further and found the following solution.
As this problem onyl arises when your library is too small to keep all primary
data for reclamation it is very likely that you can't do a backup stgpool to
multiple tapes.
So if you have always only one

Michael Hi,
I guess what Richard Sims wrote its correct, but please notice,
That all those FS was in the Schedules OBJECT Field, since there was a mess

So U can try to remove the / at the end of the FS
Hi Nicholas,
Thanks, That should do for now although I was hoping for something to just
show tape volumes

We are looking to move our tsm server v5.2.9.0 from solaris 2.8 to
z-linux.
I am not well versed in this world.
My understanding is that the 3592 drives will be connected via an ibm
2109 fiber switch to a 2319 fiber card in the z800 mainframe.
1. How do I get z-linux to see the fiber card and

The Linux-390 list, also at Marist, might be a good place to start. If
you would be running under VM, there's also an IBMVM-L list at
listserv.uark.edu.
Hello,
Can anyone tell me for Linux OS, do I need to upgrade my TSM
client for the DST issue ? If so what version should it be and where to
go about getting the lastest upgrades for Linux? Thanks.
Currently, the versions are 5.3.3.0 and 5.2.5.0

You need to make sure your operating system is patched correctly to deal
with the changes to Daylight Saving Time.
The client itself has no inherent problems with the DST changes, but of
course your OS must be patched.
