DR restore of a virtual volume

2007-09-27 Thread Larry Clark
ServerA backups up the TSM DB to a virtual volume on ServerB. ServerA is lost and the TSM DB on the virtual volume on ServerB is required to recreate it. How is that virtual volume restored?

Re: DR restore of a virtual volume

You would rebuild the ServerA instance with a blank database of the same size or larger as what ServerA had originally. Then you would define the server-to-server communication to ServerB. Once that's done, shutdown ServerA. All the configuration information is now in the DEVCONFIG file(s). Now

ServerA's devconfig file will have an entry for the virtual volume device class on ServerB. So it knows where to go to get it. It's the same concept as with a physical tape in a physical library, with a little tweak for the Virtual part. I've done it twice, but it's been a while. Once it

DB2 Logs in TSM

2007-09-27 Thread Collins, Brenda

Export node (Directly)

ServerA has a combination of primary storage pools, disk tape library managed using migration, etc. It also has a segmented disk storage pool environment like AIXBKPOOL, NTBKPOOL, AIXARCHPOOL, NTARCHPOOL ServerB has only a single disk based storage pools such as ALLDISKPOOL. If on ServerA I

Hi Larry, Because of you specify Filedata=all means that all your backups will be transferred to ServerB. About if the data will be saved to ALLDISKPOOL is depending on how your policy domain is setup on ServerB where node AIXNODE1 is belonging to. Thanks Christian -Ursprungligt

Given this bill along with the software maintenance contract cost we will probably be forced to do the same. I really like TSM and think it's far superior to most other backup products. It's just to damn expensive! Mark Remeta -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager

Any quick ideas on why I'm seeing an increase on volumes with low usage, no errors and a status of filling ? I think it has to do with my migrations getting completed and the thresholds being set to 0 for longer than necessary. Thanks, Duane

We have found that if you have a storage pool's collocation parameter set to Group, but you have nodes that aren't in a collocation group, TSM treats each such node as if it were in its own group - thus, each such node's data gets written to its own set of tapes. If you have a lot of
