HI to all
I install the new client version for Windows 5.5.0.4 on a server Windows 2003
and after testing a backup I remarked that under the folder adsm.sys I got a
lot of files like:
SystemExcludeCache__08985180.TsmCacheDB
SystemExcludeCache__03885120.TsmCacheDB
Hi,
The manual which is included in the TDP for Exchange package can guide
you in a restore operation.

If you are restoring a DP/Exchange legacy backup and you simply want to
restore the .EDB, .STM, and .LOG files to an alternate directory,
take a look at the CLI (command-line interface):
TDPEXCC RESTOREFILES
command. It is documented in the latest DP/Exchange User's Guide.
Here is

I'm trying to upgrade my TDP for Exchange from 5.2.1.0 to 5.5.0.0.
I already upgraded the BA client to 5.5.0.0 w/no problem.
The install went fine, no error msgs, but I cant get the gui or command
Steve,
Yes. You need the .NET framework 2.0 (or later) for
Data Protection for Exchange 5.5.0.
It was unintentionally left out of the User's Guide.
There is a DOC APAR for this: IC55699

I assume they already have I/P connectivity to you

I´ve seen that in the manual. Problem is that I am running TDP for Exchange

Anyone knows an alternate way to do this?

If the hardware is still usable and it's just the files that need
restoring, Backup Sets, if there's a large media type in common between
the TSM server and the client, might be simpler than shipping a whole
server. (This isn't based on experience. Your mileage may vary.)

Mario,
If you have DP/Exchange 5.2.1.03 (or later), you will find that it does
work.
We added this support in 5.2.1.03 but did not update the manual at that
time.
You can use the latest manual to understand the syntax... or refer to the
README that was shipped with 5.2.1.03 to see the syntax.
One other way to address the restore issue -- if the customs delay looks to be
too large to meet the 'restore' window. Restore the duplicate system, then
remove and ship the disk drives, appropriately packed and honestly labeled as
used disk drives. This might clear customs faster.
Tom
When shipping overseas you need to factor in customs. Might be faster doing the
restore.

Thinking outside the box a little, if you have multiple clients in

Are you running 5.2.1.03 or higher? I don't think so.
If you are only running 5.2.1.0... that is not enough.
You will need to install and run 5.2.1.03 or later in order to get the
RESTOREFILES command.
RESTOREFILES is a command, not an option.

Mario,
The DP/Exchange 5.2.1.03 version is completely and fully supported.
It contains the same function as 5.2.1.0 PLUS the additional items
listed in the README file. It should work completely for you.
If not, call IBM support immediately.
Thanks,

Mario,
The only alternate location that Exchange allows you to restore
into when restoring into a LIVE Exchange Server is the
Recovery Storage Group.
As for the ACN5798E... you might try GOOGLE or your favorite

Regarding, the TSM 5.4 and 5.5 performance issue for UNIX.
From my own debugging and reading on new TSM options for 5.4, I believed it
had to do with the new 'memoryefficient diskcachemethod'
option.
When you set that option, the performance issues for me are resolved using
TSM for Solaris 5.4
Could this be an issue?: The particular folks that I'm supporting in this
case are transitioning from TSM to Symantec Backup Exec. Our backups were
butting heads apparently, according to their logs.

Dierk,
When you talked to IBM support regarding this APAR for NetWare,
did they have you apply SP7 to NetWare? I would like to investigate to see
if there are additional requirements here for NetWare that may be needed in
order to address APAR IC53531.
At 08:03 AM 3/19/2008 +0100,
Perhaps others have already dealt with this.
Is there a way to create a single .cmd file that can be used for one
schedule with multiple sqlservers in a cluster environment so it will
run properly no matter what instance is on any one node or may have
failed to a node it normally does not live
Matthew,
You are correct in the use of the memoryefficient diskcachemethod
parameter. This is one way to improve the performance and to help reduce
the impact of APAR IC53531. This is one of the things that was discovered
when we started doing problem diagnostics for this problem.
