Ullrich,
When you have an sql statement that either contains single or double quotes, it
is better to save it first into a file (eg /tmp/sql.scr).
And define afterwards a script in TSM that uses the file as input:
Tsm: TSMSERVER def scr sql_statement file=/tmp/sql.scr
Than you can execute it

Hi Kurt,
many thanks for that hint.
Previously we are executing the selects from a macro file (foregroud
processing was for demo only).
Moving the macro into a TSM server script gives the results we were
looking for. It works on Linunx and Windows!

Try storing the command in a file, then running it as a macro. For example,
put the following in a file called tsm.macro:
select 'update thosts set tsm=''T'' where host_name=''' || node_name ||
''';' from nodes
Then run it like this:
dsmadmc -id=adminid -pa=x -commadelimited -dataonly=yes
Hitachi 9990x front end with FC disk for Protectier Meta Data FS and
SATA Drives for Repository FS. The FC infrastructure form host to
storage is 4gb. We are using the non-clustered cfg and achieving up to
500MB writes while doing 200MB reads from DB and Exchange Clients going
direct to the VTL.
Thank you Mel.

It looks like you need to reinstall the drivers for the new drives.
Your OS is seeing the drives, but TSM needs specific drivers for them to

You use the IBM TSM driver for HP drives, not the IBM drivers or the HP

When you put the new drives in the library, Device Manager found them. You
will need to right click on each drive and update the driver to use the TSM
driver. The HP driver probably bound to the drive automatically after the
reboot. You must have the IBM TSM Device Driver controlling these
