Hi,
The following link shows how IBM advertises Acronis:
http://www-304.ibm.com/jct09002c/gsdod/solutiondetails.do?solution=28728expand=truelc=en
Here is my question:
What are the features of Acronis that Tivoli Fastback lacks?
Thanks
Hi all,
UltraBac and Tivoli FastBack are interesting software that can do
incremental image backup and send it directly to TSM. Does it mean they
utilize the incremental-forever feature of TSM for images? If so, one full
image backup of a filesystem would be enough forever.
Thanks
Dear all,
If you look at the first table in the following link, DB2 is not listed in
the list of data protection clients that support LAN-free. Could it be
because DB2 has built-in awareness of TSM or it really does not support
LAN-free?
Thanks,
Mehdi

Hello all,
We have a AIX Client that continues to fail with the following

Hi Joni,
We use Application Managed Encryption, with IBM 3584 library and LTO4 drives.
This only works for a storage pool with DRIVEENCRYPTION=ON. It does not encrypt
the db backup tape. TSM handles the keys. We use this for off-site archive
tapes. Currently in the process of recalling all
Our TSM server is on RHEL 5. We are upgrading it from version 5.5.3.0
to 5.5.4.1. Our database size is about 185 GB. It is on Hitachi
AMS2300 SAS disk. Upgradedb has been running for about 35 minutes so
far. Is that what should be expected, or should upgradedb be finished
within a few
Good question, I was about to ask that same thing.
We're about to put in LTO4's at our main DC (wanted to go VTL or Disk,
but . . . ). My boss has already spec'd and priced out getting the
Hardware encryption, but I'd like to know if that's the best route. The
question is if we did that how
Richard Thanks,
I checked the clients dsmerror.log no errors.
The only thing I see in the dsmsched.log is
01/20/10 01:27:53 ANS1301E Server detected system error
01/20/10 01:27:53 --- SCHEDULEREC OBJECT END MIDNIGHT 01/20/10 00:00:01

We are working on setting up encryption with LTO4's and we are using multiple
backup products so there are several different methods to control encryption.
Several emails in the recent past talk about how to encrypt or not using the
tools within TSM.
If you are not using tsm's application
The answer to this question, in our case, is 'No'. I found a core
file in /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin that was created when the upgradedb
began, and now have a sev 1 service request open.

The resolution of this was that after 3 1/2 hours the UPGRADEDB
process was still getting time, but there was no dsmserv.err file, and
given other indicators, TSM Support made an educated guess and
recommended that I kill it and start dsmserv. That was successful.
We are now on release 5.5.4.1.
Hi Keith,
I don't understand your question really. But I did the same thing and upgrade a
end-users database from 5.5.0.3 to 5.5.4.0 and it took over 24 hours on a 200
GB Database until I killed the session.
When I boot up the TSM Server it looks like they where running 5.5.4.0. When I
look
