We ask client admins to compress their data if they are encrypting it, since encrypted data cannot be compressed by tape drives. It's important to note that certain file types don't compress well, and to exclude them with exclude.compress statements. Keith

Note that you only examined one side of the logging: review the TSM server Activity Log. There, you may well find a timeout for the session, which you can pursue. If the server is using default values, the timeout values are probably too low. Richard Sims

That smells like APAR IC64940, which was supposedly included in the 6.2 release; but check with TSM Support. Richard Sims
