I've had several PMRs re 6.3 and 6.3.1 Monitoring/AdminCenter/CommonReporting.
Also on Windows 2008 R2.
6.3 wasn't easy, but 6.3.1 upgrade was even tougher.
Most PMRs resulted in issuing long, complex command line commands to try to
move forward.
At one point, I couldn't run the GUI installer
I do like the GUI of AdminCenter, I don't look forward to everything via
command line.
But, using documented versions of the browser isn't the fix.
I think I had about 8 PMRs just to deal with trying to install
Monitoring/AdminCenter.
Once installed, I'm finding it's not ready for prime

The TDP for SAP redbook SG24-7686 says:

I have a node that was using a no expiration policy. I'm now attempting to
return it to normal.
A server-side OPTION SET had been used to set specify an INCLUDE stmt with a
no-expire mgmt class.
The option set has been revised to a normal set as used by most other nodes.

Hi Harold,
The client can only rebind files that still exists. Other will be bound to the
backup management class forever.
A solution could be moving the node to another policy domain and force a rebind
to the default mgmt if the no expire one does not exists in that policy
domain.

I'd say definitely use server side.
Issue 1. if you keep n copies, configured client side, you always keep
n copies, even if the backup frequency is changed or the node is retired.

Does anyone have any experience w/ using 'object-based' storage as a
storage pool target for TSM data (ie AWS S3)?
Does TSM 'tag' that data and is it able to track unique blocks for
expiration, etc?
Thanks. Eric
Admin Center is slow, the interface is clunky and annoying, the look and
feel is anything but modern and it is riddled with bugs and dependencies to
browser versions etc. Last time I tried it was 6.2 on a brand new two
socket HP DL380 with 48GB of RAM. Slow.

Does TSM have an iSeries client? If so, can it do an 'incremental'
backup of the changed data on an AS/400?
Or does it treat the data like a 'blob' and pick it all up each night?
Do you need to use BRMS?
If you use BRMS and point it to TSM via the API, can BRMS do a daily

We have looked at TSM for iSeries (AS/400, IBM i) and have never found it to be
a suitable choice. The people I have met that have installed TSM on iSeries
have all said BRMS is a better choice.
Perhaps you should look into a VTL that does de-duplication and replicate the
VTL. That is our
Does TSM have an iSeries client?
No, but it has an API for BRMS that will send the BRMS backup to TSM via TCP/IP
instead of writing to local tape/DVD/whatever.
Sort of like the way the TSM TDP works with Oracle RMAN.
Do you need to use BRMS?
Yes.
