We currently have a 2 site TSM system, primary with secondary replicated.
The primary has disk storage pools first drop, primary storage second drop
as device type file and lto copy storage pools. We backup the database also
to a file device type. The replicated site just has primary storage as
We have people asking about SQL 2012 also. Version 6.3.0.1 will not backup SQL
2012?
Is there an IBM link showing the release date for SQL 2012 support?

What is/are the base release(s) of AIX TSM Server 6.2, i.e. which install media

It looks to me like, out of the box, the configuration wizard for the 6.3 SQL
TDP expects and seems to require VSS. For instance, it populates the VSS agent
with the name of the BA client node and won't accept a blank (i.e., no entry).
Well, no matter. I can always configure the TDP manually to
Hi Andy,
The target is 6.3.1 not 6.3.0.1.
I know... the numbers look similar... but, they are different.
6.3.1 is planned for availability in the 4Q12.
Thanks,

Gary - This is described in ADSM QuickFacts…something I had to deal with at my
site.
The essence is to have the following in effect at dsm ached start time:
export LANG=en_US; export LC_ALL=en_US;

Hi Tim,
You should look at virtual volumes feature in order to backup the DB and the DR
Plan file to a target server.
Note that there is no way to do multiple DB backups on a one tape.

Hi David,
The base release of TSM 6.2 is TSM 6.2.1. Part number for AIX is CZG6SML.
Note that you can install directly to the target version, 6.2.4.0 for instance
(without any base version previously installed), and then install license only
from the base package above.

I had the numbers right. I was asking if it would work.
My boss asked if there was an official statement saying when it would be
available.

Hi Andy,
DP/SQL 6.3.0.1 will not work correctly with SQL Server 2012.
Microsoft changed a few things that require updates.
IBM must complete the testing cycle before releasing the support.
The best we can give is a target of 4Q12 right now.
If this is an urgent situation, please have your
Steve,
You don't need to run VSS backups, but you need to
configure for it in order to make the little
red x to go away.
Thanks,

Hi Chadvar
I am now thinking of a solution like this ... Replication from primary site to
secondary site with Tsm replication 6.3.X.
Replicate just critical nodes and in step one only active data.
I will be please if you can elaborate (maybe a paper) of what are you doing.
You can send it
