With V5 I was able to move TSM from one computer to another if the
database/log files were on attached storage (SAN) as long as I mounted them
to the same path that is in the DSMSERV.DSK file.
Now with TSM V6 and DB2, if all by db/log/archlog/. files are on attachned
SAN LUN's, is it possible
I am in the process of setting up a test environment for our Version 6
TSM servers. The servers run under zSeries Linux and are currently at
the 6.2.2.0 level. The main motivation for setting up a test environment

updated all the firmware and it appears that there aren't any tape issues

This can be done. I have tested copying the DB2 files, wiping away,
create new DB2 instance, copy files back. The main thing to watch is
the permissions. One little wrong permission, and DB2 won't start.

You need at least one drive in your alms partition with a control path, but,
that drive can (I think) also be in another alms partition. Just make sure it's
only used actively in either PR or in Test at one time.

Yes, been there done, that. It's even part of my failover setup. Essential,
once you've mapped everything, db2icrt and set the default db path as usual
during installation then run 'catalog db TSMDB1' to make the database known
again to the DB2 instance.

There is a dynamic drive sharing capability, but be aware that you cannot use
it if you are also using drive encryption.
