Well, I'm sure the answer is it depends, because it's all about the amount of data you have to move; but I I think most people will want a minimum number of data mover instances per data mover machine (real or virtual). The data mover is just an instance of a TSM scheduler service running dsmc.

Library manager server tsm 6.2.2 running on rhel 6.1 x86 Client was 6.2.2 on rhel 6.1 x86. All tested fine. Restored files from tape, all went well. Upgraded client to tsm server 6.2.4. Immediately tried a restore, now volumes are clamed to be write protected then marked unavailable. Checked

I passed this info on to the Windows admin and they came back to me saying they tried removing the dscenu.txt file from the directory containing the opt/error/sched files and the backup failed. I asked them to show me and yes, it fails. It fails when they run the CLI/dsmc. I did some digging
