Hello John,
Browser
We have been using a 3584 for about 12 years and have had
no issues at all with it. The only time it has been down
is for firmware upgrades, replacing tape drives (upgrade from
LTO2 to LTO4), and when we moved to our new datacenter. Very
stable and a great workhorse.
I generally agree with
Hi Richard,
We're on Linux so we use lin_tape, which is atape for open systems. lin_tape
is free, but you have to buy a license for support. The group that supports it
might be named Enterprise Tape Systems. At any rate, we did buy a license
for it, and that has been quite handy. The
WOW - Deja Vu - We had these same problems on our 3494:
*1) The case of the frayed ribbon cable.*
*2) The case of the mysterious gripper failures.*
So, eventhough the 3584 is blazing fast, the basic
concept/structure/problems haven't changed radically!
We have just hit the 1-year mark with our
7) Atape - the mysterious of who within IBM owns it!
We all use atape on our hosts for the tape lib/drive driver.
If you ever suspect/have a problem with it, you will get nowhere in trying to
get support from IBM. Open a case on the 3584? Nope, we don't support that -
it's host software.
At one customer with a 3494, we had to put a cover over the sunroof because
the room's fluorescent lights were causing reader errors.

I suspect this is more an Exchange 2010 issue than a TSM issue, but I'm hoping
somebody has seen something similar before and can tell me where to look.
About 15% of the time, one of our Exchange servers gears down and the weekend
full backup runs wa slower than it should, and I can't
Hi Guys
I'm trying to move some old Domino clients off TSM v5.5 server and onto V6.2
First one to move failed yesterday.
The client is windows 2000 at TSM API 5.4.0.2 running Domino 7 and TDP
5.3.0.2. Of course all this is completely unsupported.
After pointing at the V6 Server ( no upgrade,
Sorry for revisiting this but I'm in a predicament now. Trying to backup the
NDMP device is a miserable failure and frankly just ugly. I honestly can't see
why anyone would use TSM to backup any NDMP devices except for maybe speed
issues.
We decided to mount all of the NFS shares locally on
